Itineraries

The Masseria Agrituristica Lama san Giorgio is a perfect point of departure and arrival for short and long trip, a cosy and comfortable shelter for a passing visitor but also for those who want to stay for a longer period to discover the beauty of the Apulian land.
The agritourism is situated in the southeast of Bari, in Rutigliano, agricultural town by vocation, in a territory strewn with vineyards. A landscape shaped by soft hills, crossed east and west by two swamps, erosional gullies that bound the strip of land where the small town of medieval origins is situated.

Rutigliano

Rutigliano, as many others towns in the southeast of Bari, gives the tourist an interesting opportunity to discover the natural and cultural beauties of the region:
– the rich Bigetti, an archaeological area known for its grave goods found in its necropolis between the VII and the IV century B.C.
– the Byzantine-Norman tower 34 meters high with a quadrangular base of 8.3 × 8.3 meters.
– the ancient village where it is possible to admire the narrow medieval streets with its typical whitewashed houses, whose layers of rubble testify to their antiquity, as well as mansions Antonelli, De Franceschis, Pappalepore, Dei Diamanti, dated between 1600 and 1800.
The skill of the artisans and the excellent quality of the clay give life to the “figuli”, precious earthenware that exalts the taste of food with a cooking of ancient flavours.
The tourist will remain surely impressed by the sweet and bitter beauty of this land: soft hills, sunny and stony landscapes that fade away into the horizon line, down in the sea.
In the surroundings a crystalline sea, where the sandy shores alternate with breath-taking cliffs. Bari, Torre a Mare, Polignano a Mare, Monopoli, Ostuni (“the white town”), the wonderful Itria Valley and then Castellana Grotte with its famous caves, Alberobello and its typical houses called “trulli”, Locorotondo, Cisternino: all this sites offer charming and evocative landscapes, strewn by dry-stone walls as far as the eye can see, where the whiteness of the houses contrasts the green of a wild nature.
Castles and Norman towers, medieval mysteries and timeless atmospheres, wonderful cathedrals and country churches map out a touristic route made to tourist’s measure.
